MultiFinderTM: Multiplex PCR assays based on amplicon size analysis
In 2008, PathoFinder has developed and validated the MultiFinder technology. This technology enables detection and differentiation of up to 25 viral and bacterial targets in a single molecular diagnostic assay.
This multiplex technology is perfectly suited for the molecular detection of infectious diseases (multiple infections can be detected as well). The presence of viral and/or bacterial nucleic acids results in DNA fragments of a very specific size. Separation of the DNA fragments on a detection system precisely reveals the source of the infection. More detailed information is available in the overview and scientific publications you will find below.
Based on the MultiFinderTM technology, PathoFinder offers several diagnostic tests for respiratory pathogens. These RespiFinder® assays can be analysed on several detection systems. Please visit our Products page for more information on our RespiFinder® product line.
SmartFinderTM: Multiplex PCR assays based on Melting Curve Analysis
MultiFinderTM based assays require the use of advanced fragment analysis equipment like automated capillary electrophoresis instruments. However, this kind of equipment is not always available in routine clinical diagnostics laboratories. We have therefore developed and validated the SmartFinderTM technology which enables the detection of MultiFinderTM probes in RealTime PCR instruments. SmartFinderTM offers the same specificity and sensitivity as MultiFinderTM with the accessibility and ease of use of RealTime PCR.
As of October 2010, PathoFinder offers the first SmartFinderTM technology based product: the RespiFinder® SMART 22. This kit allows for the detection and differentiation of 22 respiratory pathogens in a single sample using Lightcycler 480 (Roche), Rotor-Gene 3000 or 6000 (Corbett) or Roto-Gene Q (Qiagen) RealTime PCR instruments.
RealAccurateTM: mono- and duplex RealTime PCR kits
Apart from the MultiFinderTM and SmartFinderTM products, PathoFinder also offers a number of RealTime PCR assays. These products contain optimized and validated sets of primers and probes for RealTime PCR. Most of these assays use the same uniform PCR protocol, which enables you to analyze multiple parameters at the same time in the same instrument.
Please visit our Products page for more information on our RealTime PCR kits for respiratory viruses and bacteria as well as for Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex.
